Seven Guitars
March 7 – April 2
Milwaukee Rep presents August Wilson’s captivating play “Seven Guitars” March 7-April 2, directed by acclaimed Chicago theater director Ron OJ Parson and starring Milwaukee actor Dimonte Henning.
Set in 1940s Pittsburgh and infused with the raw lyricism and powerful rhythms of American Blues music, “Seven Guitars” tells the story of Floyd “Schoolboy” Barton (Henning), an aspiring singer who gets his chance at fame after being offered an opportunity by a major recording studio. However, Barton and his friends discover the fragility of dreams and stardom in a hostile world.
“Seven Guitars,” Milwaukee Rep’s eighth production in Wilson’s 10-play American Century Cycle, brings the iconic playwright’s work alive with humor, hope and compassion, exploring themes such as oppression, love and faith. The production is the 31st Wilson play directed by Parson.
