Holiday Folk Fair International
November 17 – November 19
The 80th annual Holiday Folk Fair returns to State Fair Park with global vendors, international cuisine, vibrant demonstrations, cultural dances, and more.
“The Holiday Folk Fair International is an event that enables cultures from around the world to showcase their traditions and heritage,” said Dr. Paul F. Trebian, President and CEO of the International Institute of Wisconsin, which organizes the event.
“As we foster an environment of understanding and learning, of respect and tolerance, visitors will begin to find within themselves the necessary qualities for shaping their lives and that of their community, as well as of our state and nation.”
Traditional clothing represents identity, heritage, values, and beliefs, which are showcased at the fair, and enables individuals to share these qualities with others in a meaningful way.
“Those who wear it feel a sense of pride in where they come from, and it prevents individuals from assimilating into the dominant culture and losing their sense of living heritage in the process,” Trebian noted.
A food staple throughout the world, rice will be the 2023 featured food at Folk Fair.
Folk Fair hours are 2-9pm Friday, Nov. 17, 10am-9pm Saturday, Nov. 18, and 10am-6pm Sunday, Nov. 19.
