Baroque Pop! with Julia Holter
May 25, 2025 All day
Active since 1982, Present Music remains one of the country’s premier ensembles specializing in commissioning and performing new music. The ensemble recently performed at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tenn., and continues its mission of bringing awareness and appreciation of new artists to wider audiences.
At 7:30pm May 25 at the Milwaukee Art Museum, the ensemble presents “Baroque POP!”, a concert featuring the stellar vocal talents of Milwaukee native Julia Holter and Behind the Wallpaper, composer Alex Temple’s exquisite suite for voice and string quartet.
The concert will be held in conjunction with the MAM exhibit The Brilliance of the Spanish World: El Greco, Velazquez, Zurbaran, which features more than 50 paintings and runs through July 27.
This season, Present Music is releasing two new recordings on the Cantaloupe and New World Record labels: “26 Little Deaths” by Carla Kihlstedt and “Voiceless Mass” by Raven Chacon.
