26th UWM Festival of Films in French
February 17 – February 26
Opens Feb. 17, with an adaptation of Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux’s Happening. The Festival returns with 17 films over 10 days, and revisits fiction, adaptations, animations, and documentaries. Films explore questions of memory, exile and displacement, as well as women’s struggles for survival, rights and choices. Included are Germaine Dulac’s silent film with live piano accompaniment, Alice Diop’s Saint Omer and the biopic Simone: a Woman of the Century. All films are in person, in French with English subtitles and free of charge. See a complete list of films at: uwm.edu/french-film-festival/
