Milwaukee Ballet
Milwaukee Ballet’s biennial Genesis International Choreography Competition returns March 13-15, featuring three exciting world premieres by innovative choreographers from around the globe.
Selected this year are Julia Feldman, a current Sacramento Ballet company artist; Lauren Flower, choreographer, dancer, teacher, and company artist with Oregon Ballet Theatre; and Loughlan Prior, a New Zealand choreographer and founder of Lo|Co Arts.
Each choreographer was paired with eight randomly selected Milwaukee Ballet company artists and given 90 rehearsal hours—approximately three weeks—to create an original 20-minute work to be presented during the competition.
The winner will be selected by a panel of industry experts along with Milwaukee Ballet’s Artistic Director and will receive a cash prize. Audience members will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite choreographer.
