Welcome Winter with the Waukesha JanBoree


From ice sculpting to beer gardens, the Waukesha JanBoree offers plenty of wintry fun for all ages

Celebrate the frosty magic of winter with a mix of family-friendly outdoor and indoor activities at the 37th annual Waukesha JanBoree, Jan. 14-23. 

From lumberjack sports to ice sculpting, toboggan rides, a Malamute dog pull, a heated beer garden, and nature hikes, the JanBoree offers an ideal cure for cold-weather cabin fever. Enjoy more than 45 family-friendly activities, almost all free of charge.

The JanBoree features several canine-friendly activities for owners and their pups:
Bark & Brew Beer Garden at Minooka Park, 4-8pm Jan. 22, provides the perfect spot for dogs and their owners to congregate and sip a cold beverage. The first 100 leashed pups to arrive receive a free bandanna. Take a Sunset/Candlelight Hike with your well-behaved, leashed canine companion in the park.

From 11am-3pm Jan. 22 at Picnic Area 3 in Minooka Park, watch the Alaskan Malamute Club of Wisconsin dogs pull up to a staggering 3,000 pounds on a wheeled cart.

Learn the eco-friendly art of geocaching (hunting for treasure using latitude and longitude coordinates) at the 18th Annual Geocaching Event, 9-noon Sat., Jan. 22 in the Rotary Building, 1150 Baxter St.  

Partake in Ancient Snow Snake Games, an American Indian tradition, from 1-4pm Jan. 22 at Lowell Park.

Sunday, January 23, The Wisconsin Philharmonic presents the Prokofiev children’s classic symphony “Peter and The Wolf” from 2-3pm at St. Luke’s Church, with narration in English and Spanish. Children’s activities will precede the concert from 1-2pm. Admission is $10 for guests 19 and over and free for those under 19.

Be sure to catch the Ice Sculpting Competition in downtown Waukesha. Jan. 23, 10am-2pm.

Join the CBS58 News Team for the Bring the whole family to enjoy the Frosty 5K in Frame Park, managed by Silver Circle Sports Events. Early registration discount, $40 race day. Free t-shirt for early registrants & free hot chocolate. Kids race a 1K free with parent registration. Timed race, awards to top 3 men/women in five year age categories.

Join the Muskellunge Club of Wisconsin for this hands-on ice fishing clinic! Equipment and bait will be provided.

Enjoy a self-guided candlelit hike on snow-packed trails (weather permitting) in Minooka Park. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a 6’ leash.
