The Milwaukee Art Museum’s upcoming exhibition, Robert Longo: The Acceleration of History,  features nearly 40 drawings, sculptures, and videos created by the influential artist over the past 10 years.
The Acceleration of History will be on display Oct. 25-Feb. 23, 2025.

Longo’s first solo exhibition in the Midwest in more than 30 years includes work from several of his series, including The Destroyer Cycle, Hungry Ghosts, and Gang of Cosmos.

The artist’s hyperrealistic drawings, lauded for their large scale and technical precision, examine the effects of living in a culture dominated by images, and invite viewers to take the time to reflect on the subjects depicted.

In conjunction with Longo’s exhibit, on
Nov. 21 the Oriental Theatre will screen Johnny Mnemonic: In Black and White, a film directed by the artist. The event includes a post-screening discussion with Longo.
