Visit the Harbor Seal habitat to see animal dad, Ringo. A female pup was recently born (May 24) to mom, Cossette, and Ringo. This marks the first pup for Cossette and the sixth for Ringo, who is about 44 years old! Ringo was born in the wild and has called the Milwaukee County Zoo home since 1979. Cossette and the pup are in the habitat most of the time and viewable to guests, but they do have the option of venturing inside if they choose.
Reticulated giraffe, Bahatika also recently became a father. A female giraffe was born May 27 to mom, Marlee, and Bahatika. The calf is doing well and nursing from mom.

In the wild, giraffes are also known as the “lookout of the plains.” Their height allows them to see up to 1.2 miles. If a giraffe sees a predator in the distance they move in the other direction; other animals watch the giraffes’ movement and follow suit to avoid predators.
Check the Zoo’s social media platforms to help choose a name for the new addition to the herd!
