27th UWM Festival of Films in French
February 16 – February 25
Enjoy a 10 day showcase of 20 French-language films (w/ English subtitles). This year’s festival is centered on the theme of recovery.
Included are Jean Epstein’s silent film Le lion des Mogols, Matthieu Verdeil’s 2021 film Claude McKay de Harlem à Marseille and Jean Renoir’s 1935 film Toni.
Also featured are several films from Quebec including Solo the story of a drag queen in Montreal, the musical film Days of Happiness about the struggles of a woman conductor, and the adaptation of Kim Thúy’s novel Ru about her life as a child migrant from Vietnam in Quebec.
Younger audiences can enjoy two animated films : Dounia and the Princess of Aleppo and Nina and the Hedgehog’s Secret.
