Veteran chefs to open French cafe & bakery
THERESE Hittman and Andrew Schneider, who were trained by nationally known chef Sandy D'Amato at Sanford and Coquette Cafˇ in Milwaukee, are scheduled to open their own venture this month in the Village of Wauwatosa.
Le Reve Patisserie & Cafe , 7610 Harwood Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, offering crepes, salads and quiche, along with French cakes and tarts in miniature and medium-sized versions.
Schneider, who formerly served as Chef de Cuisine at Coquette Cafe, partnered with D'Amato in 2002 to launch the Harlequin Bake Shop adjacent to Coquette Cafe in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. Ms. Hittman began her career at the American Club in Kohler and later served as pastry chef at Sanford.
Schneider and Hittman have extensively remodeled the historic building in the center of the Village of Wauwatosa. Eventually, Ms. Hittman said Le Reve ("The Dream") expects to expand its dinner menu to include special seasonal dishes.
