feature article - may 2008 Red, White & Blades brings top amateur
This month another tradition continues as the Pettit National Ice Center hosts one of the best amateur figure skating shows in the country. The 33rd annual RED, WHITE & BLADES show will bring more than 100 of Southeastern Wisconsin's finest skaters to the Pettit Center, 500 S. 84th St., May 8-11. Presented annually for the last 33 years by the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club, the performances radiate fun, artistry and athleticism. Audiences enjoy both energetic choreography and toe-tapping tunes from Andrew Lloyd Weber, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, the Wizard of Oz and more. The colorful, vibrant show is filled with fun for the whole family. Featured skaters for 2008 are Christian Erwin and McKenzie Reid, national ice dance competitors, and the Wisconsin Edge Synchronized Ice Skating Teams. Evening performances of RED, WHITE & BLADES are at 7 p.m. May 8, 9 and 10. Afternoon matinees are at 2 p.m. May 10 and Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11. Admission to the performances is $10 at the door, or $8 in advance. Advance tickets are available on the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club Website: www.wisconsinfsc.org. through May 7. Non-profit parties of 10 or more may purchase advance tickets for $6. For additional information ,including participants, visit the calendar of events at www.wisconsinfsc.org. The Wisconsin Figure Skating Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization and a member of the U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating. The Pettit Center is a U.S. Olympic training facility located just south of I-94 on the north edge of Wisconsin State Fair Park.
