MILWAUKEE’s quarterly Gallery Night & Day programs demonstrate the growing diversity of the city’s private galleries. Participating galleries in the spring event April 18 & 19 plan some outstanding exhibitions with something for every artistic taste.
At DELIND GALLERY OF FINE ART, 400 E. Mason St., a rare collection of 19th and early 20th century American and European paintings will be featured, including important examples of Impressionism. Shown here is “Portrait of Ethel Moore,” a pastel on canvas by American Impressionist Childe Hassam (1895-1935).
MILWAUKEE STREET GALLERY, 717 N. Milwaukee St., is featuring the works of Gary Gresl, Jane Roers, Todd Burton and Devin Sumerville in an exhibition that begins on Gallery Night and continues through May 10.
In the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N. Water St., MORNING GLORY GALLERY offers contemporary fine crafts by members of the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council. Featured on Gallery Night & Day will be artist Ilze Heider.
GRAVA GALLERY, 207 E. Buffalo St. in the Historic Third Ward , features “16 Women” in honor of Women’s History Month. Featuring artworks in many media, the exhibit is on display through April 19.
On the lower level of the same building, LIGHT IDEAS GALLERY offers photographs of Szanne Garr and Byron Becker in a Gallery Night exhibition called “Our Worlds-As Seen.”
At VP GALLERY, 320 E. Buffalo St., Gallery Night participants will get the first opportunity to view the outstanding black and white photographs in the Associated Press Collection. Also in the building, PICTURE PERFECT ART GALLERY & CUSTOM FRAMING has added wall sculptures to its wide variety of framed and unframed artworks. And on the second floor at 320 E. Buffalo, some of Wisconsin’s most gifted photographers will participate in the COALITION OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS’ exhibition on Gallery Night & Day.
At TORY FOLLIARD GALLERY, Anne Miotke’s still lifes capture the elegance and extravagance of Milwaukee’s own Pabst Mansion in an exhibition that runs through April 12.
OTHER metro area finds
A wide range of art, including the bright abstracts of owner Pamela Anderson, is available at UNDERWOOD GALLERY, 1430 Underwood Ave. in the historic Village of Wauwatosa. Anderson will be showing her work on Gallery Night & Day at Cuvee, 181 N. Broadway in the Historic Third Ward.
Cedarburg also is becoming a popular spot for art lovers. In the historic Cedar Creek Settlement, don’t miss LEAP OF FAITH with its wide selection of creative gifts, BIERMA GALLERY offering art and even art-inspired clothing and CEDAR CREEK POTTERY, celebrating its 30th anniversary.
ALL THAT PIZZAZZ, nearby at the corner of Washington and Bridge, specializes in artful gifts and whimsical home accents from artists throughout the world.
