Sprecher Brewing receives accolades

sprecherSPRECHER BREWING Company, the Milwaukee area’s first microbrewer, is the only Wisconsin brewery selected to participate in “SAVOR: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience” May 16-17 in conjunction with the Brewers Association’s American Craft Beer Week.

The Savor event in Washington, D.C., combines fine food with beer. Sprecher will serve its Pub Brown Ale with pan-seared sirloin tips with Shitake Blue-Cheese Sauce and its Sprecher Hefe Weiss with Strawberry Chicken Salad. “We chose these two pairings because we really wanted to exhibit the complex flavors in both beers,” commented Anne Sprecher.

The brewer based at 701 W. Glendale Ave., in Glendale also was recognized recently by BusinessWeek.com and Men’s Health magazine. Writer Nick Passmore selected Sprecher Black Bavarian as one of the “10 absolutely top notch” winners in a BusinesssWeek.com article. Matt Allyn and Matt Bean, co-authors of “Beer, With Benefits” in the March issue of Men’s Health, selected Sprecher Micro-Light Ale as one of the best tasting, low-calorie beers available.

Sprecher Root Beer also was the only root beer to receive a four-star rating in a tasting conducted by Imbibe Magazine.
